Happiness

       Alright so this is my remake for Project 2! Since the Boston logo wasn't nearly detailed enough, I decided to go ahead and take more time with this one. I was inspired to do my project on balloons because its around exam time! I mean many exams to study for, projects to do and papers to write! What a happy time! ... So balloons resemble the mood.
     Now with the balloons I made sure to pay extra attention to the actual shape of the balloons, every curve. The strings got some love also, as I made sure those were in there. I played around with the opacity to give the balloons some light as if they were flying into the sky (hence the beautiful blue sky I added in the background, <loving it>). Using the star tool, I crafted the stars onto the balloons but once again made sure there was a light opacity on the stars so you can feel the mood with the balloons.

    This screen shot is a very rough image from one part of my commercial. As you can see the, its night time outside and the Tow Truck is still driving around. Inthis screen shot I'm trying to emphasize that Drunken Fries is willing to work all day for you. Once again, still a rough sketch and subject to change.

Commercial Storyboard

Introducing the Drunkin Fries Commercial
Focus: The main focus is to promote safe driving, stress that we will go pick you up if you to drunk, and tie it with a humorous twist. 

Storyboard 


1) The scene opens to a raging party. The bar is going crazy because its happy hour and this guy is stumbling out of the bar, ready to hit the hay and maybe stop at McDonalds on the way 


2) He walks to the car, with a drunken smile on his face (Maybe he just needs some fries!) Opens the door...


3) All of a sudden, hurling its way down the street, a Tow Truck is seen speeding down the road towards the bar parking lot! 


4) The Tow Truck driver jumps out of the truck and yells out, WHAT ARE YOU DOING!? (Basically he is saving this drunken guys LIFE) 


5) Finally, the final clip is the Tow Truck pulling the car off to safety! The drunk guy sits in the driver seat of his automobile while eating some fries!

Commercial Analyzing

I picked 5 of the most notable Super Bowl Ads within the Advertising industry

Mac Computer 1984

     In this commercial, the lady with the orange shorts is the only one running through a crowd of mesmerized zombies looking at Apple's new invention. The tone is more creepy. But so creepy thats interesting to see what could evolve within the Apple company. Apple is trying to introduce their new computers. Their target audience is mainly to 20 - 30 year olds who will grasp the concept of using computers a lot quicker than older folks. Steve Jobs wanted to stress that this computer is going to be the next best thing. The problem he may potentially face is that in 1984 he was in competition with IBM (whom now is no competition). With the use of zombie-like characters, expressing interest in the new computers, eventually thats how everyone will be with Apple products. They do use a voice over. I feel like the commercial is successful because Jobs  create a vision for the company, with goals of strong popularity, and if you compare Apple's success now shows

Budweiser 1999

     The Frogs commercial symbolizes the intelligence Budweiser advertisers are. The visual style of the is more live action, with the frogs moving their hands and having thorough conversations. The commercial is supposed to be funny, with the Frogs getting nervous if their getting kicked out of the swamp or not. The product being sold here is beer from Budweiser. Their target audience is more for 21 to 35 year olds because they can understand the beauty of animation, which makes this Super Bowl ad more appealing. I think Budweiser was looking for a way to advertise the beer without actually having to talk about beer. In this instant, they used the power of animation, mixed with some little Frogs pronouncing "Budweiser"then talking about the skit their supposed to follow and then finally a close up of Budweiser.  There is no narration going on. Overall, I think the commercial can be confusing if they don't trail along the point. THe frogs talking about the script they were supposed to follow, is kind of random, but because Budweiser is so big, they can really do anything they want to.

Coca Cola 1979

  This classic coke commercial is live action footage which shows a popular quarterback naturally responding to the kindness of a little boy. The tone of the commercial shows compassion and happiness. Compassion is shown when the injured quarterback responds to the little boy's questions about asking for help with an honest answer. Not even when the little boy rebutted by saying your the best ever, he shrugs it off by saying yea yea, meaning he's heard it alllll before. However, when he accepts the kid's coke, he's suddenly relieved and hands the kid the jersey, showing happiness. The target audience is all coke drinkers & football fans. The commercials I've shown for this assignment were all aired during Super Bowls. The 'issue' trying to be resolved is how to create a creative Coke commercial and intergrade it with the Football. Lets throw in the kids to and boom you got yourself a successful commercial.

Xerox Commercial 1977

  This live action commercial is sure to make anyone laugh, even though the product is a simple printing machine. Back in '76 when this was originally shot, pages had to be copied one by one. So when this Ad was released during the Super Bowl, millions of viewers saw this as a great addition to their office! Sales went up. Mainly  business people responded positively to this ad and at the same time the ad was funny. I definitely feel like this commercial was successful, mostly because it brings a funny idea to a dry product.

Wendy's Wheres the beef commercial 1984

   This commercial was a live action clip that actually rose sales back in the 80s for Wendys because the catch like "Wheres the beef" became so popular. The tone is happy and funny; Happy because there are 3 little old ladies playing around with food. Then turns funny when one of the old ladies comments and says "Wheres the beef". To this day we still use the symbolic saying for more than just food.. The product is simply just a cheese burger but the target audience can range from ages 15 to 90. 90!? Yes, because you have old ladies in the commercials, noticing a plain burger with a small patty, but hop skip and jump on over to Wendy's and they surely won't short change you with Beef. So you've sold the elderly and any frugal adults that make sure they get their moneys worth. The Narrator talks over the the important information, with a deep voice, showing intelligence. This commercial definitely worked because its funny. Commercials are nothing like how they are today, so back then this commercial was a ball.

Drunken Fries Brochure

     The Drunken Fries brochure, introduced a newer twist to the entire company. For starters, I decided to spell the name of the company from "Drunkin Fries" to "Drunken Fries". To me, Drunken looks better, the more and more I look at it. Two things I wanted to stress with this brochure is that Twitter & Facebook information on the back and the Goals statement, clarifying what the company actually stands for (more than just being an awesome company, providing an awesome service). 
      The layout is pretty simple, with a road at the bottom of the front and back of the brochure, just to show that we're willing to drive miles to help our customers. 
    Finally, what I'm most proud about with this brochure is that I included cut-out business cards, in which customers can give to their friends or just keep a card in their wallets for future reference.

Revamped Drunken Fries Business Card




     Taking some of the critiques from the class, I made some changes to the business card. First I added somethings to the back of the business card. Bringing down the black bolded line to the bottom of the business card, the signature tow truck on it to make it seem like its traveling down the road. Also I brought the "Why not" section to the back of the card and added a few more things.
    Lastly, I brought the website into the orange border. I feel like it was sandwiched between the phone number and Facebook/Twitter info. And I made the title 1 size bigger.

Drunkin Fries Letter Head



         Introducing the Drunkin Fries letter head. Designed to  have a friendly face and serve as a reminder than anyone can use this company as needed. The difference from the business card is that I incorporated the "Facebook" and "Twitter" logo since both are extremely popular. The letterhead is supposed to be plain and simple, only used to business purposes. That it is.
